about us >urban75 >history urban75 started life as a basic campaign web site for the Football Fans Against The Criminal Justice Act campaign way back in the Dark Ages of the web (1995). Fired up with enthusiasm after being donated a modem by rock band The Levellers, the site started to take on related issues and offer up more diverse content - on a budget of zero. Word got around and urban75 was soon picking up traffic and web awards - so much so that it got booted off Demon Internet for bursting through their bandwidth barrier - by a factor of 40! A happy new home was found at Dircon and the site has continued to grow and increase in popularity ever since. With thousands of pages of facts, news, photos and fluff, it's been described as "probably the finest and best-designed independent site in Britain" (Daily Telegraph) and "one of the best websites in the world" (Dazed and Confused Magazine). |
